Transcontinental Opens New Webcasting Studio for LesAffaires.Com

Montreal, April 20, 2006 – As part of its digital strategy to leverage its editorial content across multiple platforms, Transcontinental announced today that it is now webcasting the business and financial news of LesAffaires.com directly from its newly built webcast studio in Montreal. More frequent market and business news updates will now be prepared in high-quality video and posted throughout the day, extending the capabilities of Quebec’s premier business news website. Transcontinental’s studio was built in collaboration with Pecunia, a leading provider of webcasting, web conferencing and digital media services to enterprises worldwide.

“With this investment in our new studio, Les Affaires becomes Canada’s first print publication to bypass the television and cable platforms and go directly to incorporating video webcasting into its online version,” said Transcontinental’s Vice-President of Business Publications, Pierre Marcoux. “This service expansion is part of Transcontinental’s digital strategy to disseminate its highly-consulted content across multiple platforms, an element of the company’s Evolution 2010 business plan.”

For his part, Yves Daoust, Transcontinental’s General Manager of New Media, added: “Moving into webcasting enables us to build a new audience for our rich content, and also gives our advertising clients new ways of exposing their brands to the niche of business-minded users who turn to the Web rather than television for their news. Transcontinental will continue to accelerate its investment in new media in the months to come.”
